Class of 2011: Top sophomore RB in Michigan?

Posted by roadster997 on February 26, 2009

Justice Hayes could well be the top sophomore running back in Michigan.  He plays for a Grand Blanc team loaded with young talent, including classmate Ryan Morley, who could be the top sophomore QB in the state and talented Class of 2010 WR Tony Jones.  As a reslt, his touches were relatively limited, howev er there is no denying his ability.

Just take a look at this YouTube clip, where he gives his best Sam McGuffie impersonation.

Below is an extract from my database on Justice.

Justice Hayes RB/WR 5′11 168 4.55 Grand Blanc Michigan

One of the top sophomores in Michigan……………Sophomore starter at RB and through 8 games he had 151 carries for 1,082 yards (7.17ypc) and 5 TDs and 20 receptions for 207 yards and 1 TD………..Changed his name from Will McDaniel to Justice before his sophomore season……………..A very quick and elusive RB who has excellent lateral movement and exceptional ball skills. A hard worker and an enthusiastic player. Needs to fill out to be an every down back, but has a lot of upside due to his great speed……………He was impressive at the June 2008 Southwest/Midwest NUC Ultimate 100 in DeSoto, Texas (RB MVP)………….Impressive at the April 27, 2008 Detroit NUC and was invited to participate at the Ultimate 100 NUC

A sprained ankle couldn\’t stop Kevin Parks. Neither could defenses. Parks, a junior running back at West Rowan, battled through a playoff injury to help the Falcons win the N.C. 3A championship and go 15-1. His final statistics, while impressive, might have been loftier if he hadn\’t been limited early during the playoffs. He rushed for 2,864 yards and 43 touchdowns on 386 carries. The standout carry was his first in the state championship game – 81 yards and a touchdown on the first play, sparking a 35-7 victory against West Craven. Parks, 5-foot-9 and 185 pounds, is the Observer Offensive Player of the Year. His 2,864 yards led North Carolina rushers, and put him above 7,000 in three seasons. “Kevin is just a real tough kid, physically and mentally tough,” West Rowan coach Scott Young said. “He has good vision, balance and adequate speed. But he\’s such a high-character kid, too.” Parks finished with 219 yards and three touchdowns in the final, and set up another score with a 56-yard run. His ankle injury reduced his carries in earlier playoff games, and coaches didn\’t want to risk further injury by overuse. “Every time I\’d ask him, he\’d tell me he\’d be fine to play,” Young said, laughing. “What he did was phenomenal. He\’d go to rehab twice a day, at different locations, and missed some practice. As a staff, we\’d sit down and design game plans with him and without him. It caused some sleepless nights.” The awards began rolling in after the title game, in which he was named most valuable player. Parks was named North Piedmont 3A Player of the Year, and Rowan County Player of the Year. “He is so punishing on tacklers,” Young said. “As the game wears on, that has an effect.”…………..Impressive at the April 19, 2008 Charlotte NUC and was invited to participate at the Ultimate 100 NUC
